PostHeaderIcon How to decrease productivity losses

Companies spend an average of $14,000 per employee per year on stress related productivity losses (CorSolutions, Inc)

A pleasant work-atmosphere where employees are valued is the basis for good communication and productivity - the key to every successful corporation! So it is more than "health / well-being" at work in the sense of not only not being sick. We all live in a physical body, with a mind and with emotions. We are not all into sports, not everyone is into psychology or into big thinking, and yet looking after the body, mind and emotions makes our life more balanced, leaving us more energised with a zest for life. We don't only put fuel in our car and think it will be alright, do we?

At Work Yoga is the key and this year I'll share more short videos - "mini At Work Yoga flows" with you on what you can do during a busy work-day. Here is a link to seated file:///Users/shaktipremblaschke/Downloads/watch.html and to a short relaxation practice here.   Also have a look at the free mini version of "UNPLUG & REBOOT". http://unplugandreboot.com

End of this month you'll learn about your breath.  - "When the breath wanders the mind also is unsteady. But when the breath is calmed the mind too will be still - and focused." Hatha Yoga Pradipika     Until then, keep stretching and breathing gently, slowly and deeply. - Shaktiprem

It is time to stretch your body - calm your mind - focus your vision

Creating a healthy workplace is more important than ever. We don't have to run around the block if we don't like running, but we have to look after our body and our mind. Everything is rushed so much - especially before Christmas - so we offer you some time to slow down, balance and focus - and HAVE A FUN DAY!!

PostHeaderIcon Workplace Yoga - more than a stretch away

When delivering corporate Yoga sessions most people want to have a good stretch of the back, hips and freeing neck and shoulder tension - but what about our eyes?? Let's stretch them a bit as well. Stretching means becoming more flexible and more adaptable - which again means staying "younger"; of course I am not saying that every young person shows the quality of being adaptable.

Here is something you can easily integrate into your busy day in the office:

Eye exercise. This is good for unlocking your gaze from the computer screen. Open your eyes, pick a spot on a nearby wall and imagine a clock there. Take the gaze in a slow circle, first in a clockwise direction, then counterclockwise, making sure to hit each number on the clock individually. Do this twice, slowly in both directions. Then, focus the gaze on a spot far away drawing your gaze out into the distance.  Then come back to a point close by, like your telephone. Repeat this a few times to release the muscles of the eyes that tend to be locked at the distance of the computer screen. Think about clarity and open space as you practice.

PostHeaderIcon 7 secrets.. - no just great NEWS!!!

Health is more than not being sick!! When we keep a balance between movement and rest or just "not movement" (like seated computer work) we usually have more energy and can be more focused with a clear mind. Corporate Yoga is one way to keep up with some body maintenance and will not only tick off one of the boxes of the OHS department, but make a difference to the individual as well as the whole company atmosphere. What if you don't have a workplace Yoga program in place? What if you don't feel flexible.... don't like stretching yourself too much ;-) Well, here it is: Yoga & Sound workshop this Sunday:

9th of Sept. 2012 from 9.30am - 1pm at 31 Woodstock Ave. Taringa; $88 pp or $132 for two people - as we know how much people enjoy sharing this experience with a friend. http://yoga-health-retreats.com/item/yoga-sound

The Delwarr Laboratories in England analyzed waves generated by different music. D.H. Andrews, a chemist, researched the relationship between form and frequency and found, for example, that the note A, below the middle C, in the western scale, vibrates at 23 cps (cycles per second), manifests the colour red-orange and shares the same frequency as the metal copper. He was able to conclude that all elements, even those making up our own body, are able to be attuned and harmonized with different vibrational sounds!!!

NEWS ON MASSAGE:

Change of massage times available: Tuesdays from 9.30am - 12 noon and 2-4pm; Thursdays and Fridays from  4pm - 7pm and Saturdays from 9.30am - 2.30pm

PostHeaderIcon Taking time out - Counteracting effects of computer work and general stresses in life

Last week a dear friend of mine had to be rushed to hospital - he needed a bypass operation: five by-passes!! Life brings us unexpected situations again and again. We can't hide away from "stresses" in life. What is the yogic viewpoint of health?

Physical health from the yogic perspective is management of different physiological conditions that arise, whether in form of a simple ailment or a life threatening situation. The aim of Yoga in health is not eradication of the problem, but the management of these conditions. Because after all our body is subject to changing condition, and the body is going to react to these either positively or negatively. In Yoga our aim is to convert the negative responses of the body into positive ones.
